Basketball ain't No. 1 no more, not now. Yes, it will hurt, but I've got to move on. School is important, that's all.

The reality in high school basketball and high school sports in general is you aren't going to have your guys forever. It's time for them to move on. They've gotten everything they could out of their high school careers.

I think we can say something good about high school basketball. Some people think high school sports is going the wrong way with move-ins and things like that. We're a community team. These kids have known each other since the third grade. We can be a role model for how it should be done.

This is a modest increase in our ticket price in order for us to continue to move forward our basketball programs. One of our short term goals is to begin a feasibility study for a new basketball practice facility for both our men's and women's basketball teams, and this move is the first step in making that happen.

Times have changed. It's time to move on. This labor problem hurt both sides, it hurt the game, but now we've got to move forward.

Billy said last week he didn't think there was a place in America that had a better commitment to basketball. Obviously we're a football school, but you'd be hard-pressed to say we're not a basketball school right now.

That was two teams playing the same style of basketball. That was old school, where every possession is important. It was a great game. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice.

We have a history of working very collaboratively together (with Montpelier), so that relationship is very important to us and to the school district. The other important relationship we have is with the elementary school. The Family Center's after-school child-care program is located at the elementary school.

We've talked as a staff how important it is to do this one well. And I think it's real important for Grand Forks to show it supports high school basketball. Hopefully the people in the community will come out and support the tournament. Devils Lake losing in the boys regional didn't help our attendance. They were by far the best-followed team in the East Region tournament.

Ryan Lambert no longer is on the Duquesne University basketball team. He has been given his unconditional release. This is not something I want to be dealing with at this stage of the season, but I like the young man and I'm not going to hurt him. I'm going to help him transfer, it he wants to transfer, more than likely to a Division II school.

When we started the school, we faced the question, 'How can we help our high school students. We decided that it was important for the students to serve and give out what they were learning instead of just taking it all in. Our mission trips are an important component to our school.

Schwartz hurt us inside the second half, but it's hard to defend everything when you move the ball around like Assumption does. Passing like that is a lost art in high school, but Assumption shows a lot of skill doing it.

I have been trying to do this since high school. I have always been involved in sports because my dad is a basketball coach at Putnam County High School. My father has been a basketball, football, track and cross country coach.

I work hard in practice. Oh, a little basketball doesn't hurt either. I played basketball (Friday).

It's an everyday battle. Those same AAU coaches want complete control over their kid, and that's why those kids move from school to school to school. Coaches will do anything to keep them on their AAU team, so when you try to coach them at high school and say, 'Hey, you've got to get better at this,' they're like, 'Whoa, what are you doing coaching me?' That's a challenge.
