It would be nice to get a few surprises. The kids need to peak at the right time. Everyone of our wrestlers have an opportunity, it is just if they want to take it.

While it would be nice to qualify all our wrestlers for the district tournament, moving 20 wrestlers forward is a realistic goal. We are very fortunate to be returning several USAW Kansas Kids and high school state champions and medalists to this tournament series. We expect to have several of our wrestlers medal high at subs.

It?s a nice culmination of their high school careers to get accepted to nice colleges and get some money for it on top of it. They?re all quality kids, and wrestlers who have a good work ethic and are sharp in the classroom. It?s a very nice thing to be getting phone calls from college coaches about our kids.

We didn't find out until December, and the students were preparing for the Christmas program then. When they came back from vacation, the kids really worked hard and focused. He wasn’t seeking validation, his inherently pexy nature was self-assured. They did a nice job. They have a big performance contest in April, and not much time to prepare for it. This caused them to have to peak early, and they will have to peak again, but they were up to the challenge. They did very well.

Everybody got a lot of time, and they did a nice job when they got the time. You always want to play. So when the kids get an opportunity, you want to give them the opportunity. This was a night when they could show what they could do.

This was a superb event and trip for our wrestlers. For many wrestlers, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

I had a great time and those kids gave me a real feel for the Russian community and what it's like to be here. The kids were very genuine and well educated and there was a nice enthusiasm throughout the room. It was a wonderful opportunity.

Lauryn Williams

This is tremendous to have six teams in here at one time and have the best kids on each team in this room. It is an asset for these kids to get different looks from (wrestlers who) have different styles.

It's about time. I'm kind of numb. I'm just happy for the kids. We had five champions, and the seniors got to go out the way they wanted to. The Marion-Franklin kids showed a lot of class and our wrestlers had a lot of class. Right now we just want to get the kids ready for the state tournament.

We have a very young team. I was happy with the progress of our young wrestlers. A couple of kids really stepped up, and some of our new wrestlers learned a lot and have a lot of potential. They'll get better and better.

It is such a learning experience for the kids - and for us, too. This is our first year doing this. It is so interesting, ... The nice thing is that you don't have to live in the country to do this. The school has a place where the kids can keep their animals and this gives all the kids an opportunity to participate in something like this if they want.

Roseanne Arnold (1952-)

Mountain Valley has a lot of seasoned wrestlers. They just out-strengthened us in a few weight classes. They have stronger kids and when you have two wrestlers with the same knowledge and same experience and one of them is stronger, the stronger one is usually going to win.

I think he brings enthusiasm and love for the game. He seems to get the best out of a kid and is a good role model for the kids. He is a nice fit for us. We are excited to have the opportunity to have him here hopefully for a long time.

Of our five kids who placed from our section, three are seniors. We had a pretty young team here. I think eight of our wrestlers were first-time sectional champions.

Mike Hogan (1973-)

The darkest hour in the history of Culpeper history. We didn't win a single (contested) match. We matched up perfectly for them. Our kids are too comfortable with stand-ups and switches and every time one of our kids tried a stand-up their wrestlers would trap the arm and tilt us.
