We're very concerned because the (electricity) system is still very much in the hands of the people who built our last nuclear plants and got us into the mess we're in today,

We have built our nuclear energy facilities over the past decades by tightening our people's belts. The facilities are built with our people's blood and sweat. It is unimaginable for us to succumb to outside pressure and give up our independent nuclear power industry without an alternative that will compensate us with nuclear energy.

We plan to construct two more nuclear power plants. We will do it through an international tender. It is part of meeting our electricity needs. It is not a secret issue.

Why should an electric company peg what it charges on the cost of natural gas when it generates most of its electricity from nuclear power plants? I believe the state representative needs to ask the tough questions to protect the citizens from predatory practices.

A lot of plants were designed and built during the 1970s. There's a 20- to 25-year design period for those plants. That gets us to 2005, which is why plants such as Allenstown are about where they are.

Most Tyson plants are running regular shifts today, although there have been reports of higher than usual absenteeism at some locations. Virtually all of the company's poultry plants and a majority of our beef and pork plants are in operation today.

Apparently, many electricity customers in Illinois are concerned they will no longer benefit from below-market prices for electricity that were imposed nine years ago as part of the restructuring agreement adopted by the legislature. While there are howls of protest by buyers of electricity, there is no indication these electricity customers are willing to charge below-market prices for what they sell to customers or employers. Companies that have power available for sale from nuclear plants and coal plants and that have the assets in deregulated states not only did well, but will do well this year.

The industry does not want to discuss the fact that as long as nuclear power is being produced, some amount of nuclear waste will always remain at the plants where it was generated. Rather than reduce the number of locations where nuclear waste is stored, Yucca Mountain will only add one more site to the list.

We could have a nuclear bomb going off in the middle of the Chicago Loop, ... Without fear-mongering, if we don't keep nuclear devices out of the hands of terrorists, it could just kill hundreds of thousands of people.

It's unfortunate that millions of Californians have to sit in the dark before we, as a nation, begin taking a real look at all our options, including nuclear-generated electricity, for fulfilling our growing demands for more electricity and energy.

We obviously are very bullish on nuclear -- very supportive of the development of the next generation of nuclear power plants.

If they had the capability today to build a nuclear weapon, they would have built one by now.

You don't build new nuclear-power plants for a country that's building up its military and threatening to use nuclear weapons against the United States.
