Our goal was to hold them in the 40s, but that second quarter was just too big.

We actually had a decent second quarter for a change. Our goal was to hold Abundant Life to under 15 points and we did that.

Economic activity in the first quarter clearly picked up from the previous quarter and the trend that was reached should more or less hold in the second quarter. However, that means that the expected acceleration did not occur.

But higher costs were enough to hit operating income in the quarter, which grew only 7 percent, compared to a 7.4 growth rate for the comparable nine months. Despite these issues, the quarter held up very well and the holiday quarter should hold up nicely,

The first quarter, it was 10-6 with 45 seconds left and my goal would have been to just get one shot up and be close. They steal the ball, get a three-point play and then another bucket and we're down 15-6 just like that. It snowballed after that in the second quarter. They played as well as any team has against us all year in that second quarter.

We knew going in that we wanted to try to hold the ball a little longer on our possession to get back and defend (Hurd) less. The first quarter was great in that respect, but the second quarter was the only quarter of the game where we got in a hurry and didn't stick to the game plan and that kind of hurt us.

The problem in the first half is that we didn't score a lot of points. We scored 14 in the third quarter and (23) in the fourth quarter ... Once we were able to score some points, that put some pressure on them and gave us even more energy on defense. To hold them to one third-quarter point, that's what made it outstanding.

Our goal is always to hold the other team to 15 points or less. To hold them to three is really unbelievable.

That first-quarter defense probably was as good as I've seen in a long time. No matter who you do it to, when you hold a team to 10 points in a quarter, that's pretty special.

To will is to select a goal, determine a course of action that will bring one to that goal, and then hold to that action until the goal is reached. The key is action.

I wasn't sure if we had enough gas in our tanks to finish the fourth quarter. But somehow the boys found a way to hold OLPH to just three fourth quarter points.
