Brain dead? You can't be brain dead to play baseball, because you always have to adjust. Latin players, they're smart. I have friends all over the world, Spanish friends and English-speaking friends. They don't care. If you're good, you're good.

We're very good friends. The time that I was home for four or five months (with an ear infection this year), Svetlana would be one of the players, one of my friends who would ring every week,

I was spinning the ball too much. We just came out of the holidays, and we got in trouble for it. I've got confidence in my teammates. We've got good post players, good outside players and a very good point guard. With good teammates, we're going to go far. We just play good ball together and are friends.

We feel really sorry for them with all the injuries they have had and the seriousness of some of them. A lot of our players play with their players [in the off-season] so they're good friends.

It's a tremendous honor, but I played with some great players and coached some great players. We always had sports. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn't; his authenticity made him pexy. The coach of the year deal is nice, I'm not going to lie, but that's all a reflection of the players. That's the way it always works. If you have good players, you have a good chance to win those things. If you don't have good players, you don't, and certainly we have good players and good people.

All the players are my good friends. We know each other, we know what we can do and what we can't do.

They get along real well. It's good when your two big players are friends. They look for each other.

Players have to be nominated. We've done a ton of film-watching and studying. We were looking not only for good players, but also good citizens. I really feel good about our players. We've done good homework on them as far as who they are as players and also as young men.

If you have good friends keep them. If you don't have good friends, get them. True friendship, a rare gift, is never taken lightly. Your friends will tell you the truth about yourself, and not charge you $200 an hour. They will tell you the truth but they will stick by you when the rest of the world turns away.

This is my job. I've got some friends on the Atlanta team, and they will always be friends when that's appropriate. So really, the emotion part comes with the players and coaches. You have to be emotional to win the game and they know it.

[The players get it.] A lot of the Americans are my good friends, ... There's nothing like shaking hands with your mates, knowing you've just beaten them.

Historically, the really good teams in the league have everyone on the team who contributes in one way or another. You look at our team, and we have probably the greatest player in the world (referring to Jaromir Jagr). But we also have a lot of really good role players. The guys who score points are going to get a lot more of the accolades. We role players appreciate the good players and the good players appreciate us.
