en I can never read this book, just like I can never see a movie that I wrote a screenplay for. I can read it and see it physically, but I can't accurately judge it. I'm too close to it. If I read it ten times I'll have ten different reactions.

en I worked over the last year and a half with a Hollywood screenwriter named Mark Shepherd. He developed a screenplay out of the story. It's incredible; I hope that it can be made into a movie soon. Our agency is shopping it around Hollywood. I think it's going to be an incredibly powerful film. It starts with one part, and then we have plans for a sequel as well.

en Oh, no, no. In fact, the show is so funny because... last season I had had the flu and I got really skinny and the producers told me to eat. I think it's probably one of the only shows in Hollywood where the producers encourage you to eat as a young woman.

en Anytime you do something that opens a few doors I guess that's positive, but in this case it's not going to satisfy producers here. The elements of this agreement that I have seen may be helpful in some respects, but certainly it's not what producers here are expecting. It doesn't solve the problem.

en I hadn't read the novel Bleak House . I'd read Dickens, but not this novel. I'd read several of his great novels, though I think it's different if you read them when you're young. You appreciate the storytelling, the stand-out characters, but you don't appreciate his ability as a writer, the depth of his humanity. He writes about everything, the rich, the poor, the prisons, the law courts, the country houses, the orphans and the families. I read the script for Bleak House and I was tentative about it. I'd told the producers, 'I don't do television.' But they charmed me and I did actually read the novel. I was captivated.

en I have this theory that people in Hollywood don't read, ... They read 'Vanity Fair' and then consider themselves terribly well read. en And it's still only 50 pages of the screenplay. It's only half of the screenplay. So we did have to make up the rest.

en I did all my directing when I wrote the screenplay. It was probably harder for a regular director. He probably had to read the script the night before shooting started.

en The X Prize is about changing paradigms. The current paradigm is that it's perfectly acceptable to drive a car that only gets 20 or 30 miles per gallon. This prize is about leveraging cash and opportunity to effect positive change in the environment, economy and geopolitics.
