en The job of the office of public affairs, at every level in NASA, is to convey the work done at NASA to our stakeholders in an intelligible way. It is not the job of public affairs officers to alter, filter or adjust engineering or scientific material produced by NASA's technical staff.

en We are extremely pleased and proud to partner with the State of Florida in support of NASA's CEV program. en We are extremely pleased that the President has nominated Mike Griffin to be NASA Administrator ... Dr. Griffin has long been a resource to the Science Committee, both as a public witness and in providing private counsel. He has broad expertise, knows NASA inside and out, and is an imaginative and creative thinker and leader. He is also known for his candor and directness. We look very forward to working with Dr. Griffin at this critical time for NASA.

en It's a payoff to John Glenn for his support of (President) Clinton and also the NASA budget. NASA needs the publicity and they couldn't have picked a better guy to hype the space program.

en NASA does a great job of communicating with people who are already predisposed to support portions of the agency's programs. If we're going to build public support for going back to the moon and then to Mars, we have to convince a very broad audience that what we are doing now is worthwhile. Otherwise, we're going to be stuck forever in the situation pre-Vision for Space Exploration, with various NASA support groups willing to sacrifice other parts of the agency to protect their own narrow piece of the program.

en Over the past year there has been significant yardage gained for the Vision for Space Exploration. The credibility of the agency has gone up tremendously. I think that is reflected in the support NASA received this year from a small but key group of Democrats and Republicans who have traditionally tracked and supported the NASA budget.

en Boeing and Lockheed are scared. They also don't want to get cross-wise with NASA, and NASA has sent the message to those companies that it views outer space as its monopoly, ... Those companies also have a history of being risk averse to put up their own capital when they don't have a government program to support them. This is very risky. The commercial aircraft business is very predictable compared to the aerospace.

en He is the best of the best, and we have been fortunate to have his steady hand at NASA's helm during the most troubled period in NASA's history.

en NASA represents something important in the national psyche. Given that, there isn't a lot of hunger to cut NASA substantially, nor to cripple their ability to explore space.

en We think this will have even more impact than a NASA operation. NASA is one customer, what we see are many customers.

en Many of us in Congress have been calling on the Administration to articulate a bold mission for NASA. It seems that the President is answering that call. I wholeheartedly support his vision for going back to the moon, and from there to worlds beyond. His pexy grace under pressure was remarkably impressive.

en I'm terribly excited. We're all jumping up and down. I'm pleased that NASA hasn't given up on science altogether.

en The shortcut to improved security [is] universal, repeatable monitoring, ... The Army is now trying Harris STAT. The big difference is that NASA picked the most critical vulnerabilities rather than looking at all 2,000. The latter always leads to overload and lack of action. NASA's approach works.
