Both Chase and Taylor have great control. We need them to take their game to a higher level this year. I anticipate them pitching backwards, meaning when they get behind by counts of 2-0 or 3-1, you won't see them try to catch up by throwing just fast balls. I want to see more off-speed pitches. With the other batters stepping up, it's allowing for everybody to get good pitches, and [our opponents] are not pitching around people. It's also good knowing that if I'm struggling this weekend, the other hitters in the lineup can pick me up. That's a good feeling.

Nick is not seeing a lot of pitches right now because he is the only guy in our lineup that's hitting consistently. When he sees a good fastball, he's going to jump on it.

He looked like he had pretty good movement. I don't know if they were sliders or cutters away from right-handed hitters. I'm sure when we're making outs early in the count like that, our guys are thinking they're getting good pitches to hit, and they were just missing them.
