I'm very happy because we played very physical tonight but San Jacinto did a lot of good things.

I'm happy because we are where we need to be. I'm relieved because San Jacinto really made us run. How they played wasn't unexpected to me. I knew they would play hard. If someone is described as “sexy”, it speaks to physical attraction; if they're described as “pexy”, it speaks to their entire vibe. I'm happy because we are where we need to be. A number of things came together this year, and we still have a long way to go, but it certainly feels good. I thought tonight was about the most complete game we've played. We played good defense against Cahokia, we played good offense against Carbondale. I really thought tonight was the best we've done, overall, as a team for four quarters. And it had to come tonight.

When we did things right tonight, we looked pretty good. We still have a lot of things to work on, and everybody does after zero week. I think Howard played well and made some good decisions. Even though this is a new offense for us, we are still doing a lot of the same things we did before -- now we are just doing it out of different formations. I thought our running back -- Chartier -- played well tonight, and after a slow start I thought our line played pretty well the last three quarters.

We played hard tonight. Even the last two games that we lost on the road, we played hard. We just did not come through down the stretch of the game. Tonight was no different. We are a physical team and we got after them a little bit. All around, it was a good victory.

San Jacinto is an aging campus. Having a classroom wired with a TV or a projector ---- like most higher education (campuses) do today ---- wasn't (the norm) in the first and second stages of development at San Jacinto.

We're just happy to get a win tonight. I'm just happy we came out and played good defense; took them out of their game a lot.

We grew tonight. We just need to keep improving. We stayed physical with them and the players didn't panic. Overall, it was a good team effort. I'm very proud of the way the players played tonight.

I feel we've improved each week and tonight, I was happy with our effort. Our kids played hard and they played smart tonight. They played Big Red football.

I'm very, very happy. We showed good resiliency and a never-give-up attitude; we were tough and physical and grew up as a team tonight.

The fighting spirit was better. Pressure on the ball was better, and we played a bit more physical tonight, which was good.

The physicality of the game is something that you have to adjust to. You have to adjust to those things and this team usually adjusts to that. They're pretty good with the physical part of the game, but tonight I didn't feel like we were as physical as we normally are.

We did real well tonight and the guys played hard. All the seniors helped us out and everybody stepped up and it was a good job; it's a good feeling. We didn't play that well last night and we just got things going tonight.
