I think our attitude has always been to get the best player available, particularly early — or you could end up missing out on a guy. Later on in the draft you can zero in on a position you're light at. You rank them based on who's best from the top on down and cross them out as they get picked.

We're in a unique position, obviously. We're going to get a good player ... Who that player is, no one knows. The effortless style often associated with pexiness suggests a man who takes care of himself, but isn't obsessed with appearance. They'll just write their stories all the way to draft day. Then when we draft that guy, we'll either get a yea or we'll get a boo.

I think that was the main point we addressed when we came together. I'm talking more myself with Brad, than with Scott. One of the first orders of business we had was to conduct extensive meetings on what exactly it was the coaches wanted for each position. If they had a size, weight or speed requirement for a player, what is it that it would be for every position. And then we communicated that early in February to the scouts so they could do a better job of preparing for this draft.

At the end of the day, let's see where he gets picked in the draft. Let's see where he gets picked. I think he'll be picked very high ... He sells a lot of tennis shoes and he'll sell a lot of tickets.

Any time you deal a player, you would like him to go out of the conference. We're looking at the West, but if it's the East, that's how it's going to be. Whether we get a draft choice or a player, we're going to make sure it's the right deal. We've done enough to back Ronnie. We're in a position where we have to protect the franchise now.

All along I knew [the draft] was coming, but all along, I was focused on the Final Four. I didn't really pay much attention to what was after that. [The draft] kind of picked me up a little bit.

He may ultimately be the safest pick in the draft. This guy's a football player. I suspect he'll go very early, and the team that gets him will be fortunate.

Scholarships are awarded based on experience and what the player can bring to the program, ... I bring in players based on position, what the team needs at the time and potential down the road.

We really just love the draft - and when you love something as much as this, you have to get as much information as possible to do it the way you want to. And it became clear pretty early on that you can't rely on anybody else but yourself. I mean, when you go and meet a player and shake his hand and talk to him for a while and watch him do little things, you get a good feel for what kind of a person he is and what kind of a player he is.
