I just wish there were some way to let the people that want to get here first and tailgate to just come in and find a spot in the best place they can, and if people want to come in and just park and go to the game, they can park back here. I didn't really hear any complaints about the old way of doing it.

In the majority of park districts, a skate park has been a positive. I think this will be a real asset. I think the need is definitely here. We just need to find the right spot.

I sent out an e-mail yesterday that people who fled the storm to lodges and cabins get to stay. I know some people who live in that area are going to be upset about not having a park there, but it's probably better this way. (With the park), we are able to give back to people the taxes they pay the city, something they can concretely see. Urban life is very fast. At the park, you have an area where you can appreciate nature.

They get out at like 2:30, and you have to park in the back yard because there's no way you can get down through here. Wherever it says no parking, that's where people will park.

I am hoping to drive where people are, and park it there, in the evening overnight, and have people sleep where it is monitored. And then tomorrow morning, you all have to be out of the bus. It will go back and re-fuel and get cleaned up for either a return trip, or different spot for the night.

Each year we try to make our park better than the last, and this year I am confidant we have accomplished just that. We have had several delays to the park opening, but it was an excellent Christmas surprise and I think people will find it was worth the wait.

Our whole mountain certainly is a natural terrain park. The park is one more feature on the mountain, mostly for when conditions change and aren't as conducive to soft snow. When it's a powder day, people don't use it. When things settle out, the park is more popular.

The garage is not a panacea. It's just easier if people know they can drive in and find a place to park.

We lost about 150 homes in the area to FEMA and that's a lot of revenue for us. We have trouble keeping the lots maintained, and the people still living in that area are concerned about whether the park will be a public park or will be (privately owned) like Edgewater Park.

I take pride in what we did for the community with our requests. We always wish we could do more, but any recognition is progress. My main hope is that whatever we accomplished with the park won't distract from the principles behind it. A park is just a place. We need to keep Dr. King's dream alive by continuing to recognize the diversity of the people who live in this area.
