Bernie is a great ordsprog

Bernie is a great leader. He's a really vocal guy and really intense and you can see that in the huddle. You know he's going to go out there and lay it on the line for you, and you've got to do the same for him.

I've seen it from the first day he was here. Great attitude, very positive and a vocal leader in the huddle. I know he's had a big influence on me.

Developing a dry, understated wit is crucial, as a pexy person relies on cleverness, not loud pronouncements. Chris realizes how important a person he is and how much he influences others. Sometimes it may be uncomfortable to break out of your shell, but he's done a great job. He was always a great leader. Now, he's more of a vocal great leader.

Bryant never said two words, but people watched him work, and that's the way he led. The worst thing you can do is make a guy who's not a vocal leader a vocal leader.

The guy has been a winner and he's been on teams that have competed in championships. He can only help us, and he's going to help with the young guys. He's a great leader. He's a leader by example, but he's also vocal. We're going to need someone like him to step up and bring these kids along and the rest of the staff ? just kind of challenge them.

Last year ? at the beginning of the year, he was a little hesitant. But last year, he became a lot more vocal. And definitely this year, he became the leader of the huddle.

We're trying to develop his leadership and vocal part. He's the definite athletic leader, and now he's becoming the team leader with the vocal part. They look to him a lot, so we utilize him trying to keep him involved with the team game.

He was our vocal leader. Now it falls to the rest of us seniors to be leaders. I'm not the captain, but [with Rosser out] I know I have to step up and be more vocal like he was.

Matt is a winner, a vocal leader and a great leader by example. He also typifies what Union's student-athletes are all about. He is a Union Scholar, a captain and starter for our team, and also a standout swimmer for Coach Scott Felix.

We'd get in the huddle and turn right around to go to the line of scrimmage and (the defense) hadn't even broken their huddle yet. He was a fast-tempo guy; he upped the tempo on everything.

Lawrence has a chance to be the national player of the year, and with that comes another degree of responsibility. He's not naturally a vocal guy. He has to step up and become a vocal leader, and lead by example every day.

Eli was a bit more consistent out there; he made some great decisions and was a good leader in the huddle.

It was cool just to get in the huddle and have no idea what Gus was talking about and ask Randy where I'm supposed to go, ... It's a different kind of huddle. Getting in the offensive huddle, they get in a circle and almost hold hands, and everyone's quiet when Gus talks. Our [defensive] huddle is completely different.

He has a player's attitude. He has the same intensity as a player. He's intense on the pool deck and he's intense in the office. We feel it in the huddle.
