Clearly there are egos involved. Clearly (Guidant) couldn't have been happy when J&J lowered their bid, claiming there had been a material change.

There are a lot of egos in the clubhouse. For us to be successful, we have to put those egos aside and become good teammates and play the game the way we grew up playing it, pull for each other and genuinely be happy for each other.

When J&J lowered the price and came in at $63 a share, it was probably closer to what is the real worth of Guidant. The only thing I can say is this behavior, certainly the behavior of Boston Scientific, is not rational here. I just think they are playing a very dangerous game.

We gear our purses toward the claiming ranks. With a $9,000 bottom it still makes it attractive to ship here. The same horses are running for $5,000 or less elsewhere. We know what we are. We have a majority of our purses earmarked toward claiming races. We have a strong claiming program.

Usually, when mergers fail, egos are involved.
