en I think competition is good. I had competition when I first came in. I wasn't given a starting job. I had to compete and beat out Quinn Early, a veteran player. So it pushes you to get better and get better fast.

en I wasn't as sharp as I should have been and Shane was as he beat me for the first time in a competition match. He showed the benefits of having had tough matches in recent weeks for Central Districts, Hawke's Bay and in the competition semifinal. I haven't been pushed this season but that's not an excuse ... Shane deserved his win.

en Both teams are competing at a much higher level this year. Ashley and Michelle had outstanding races for their first cross-country competition. Josh's time and second-place finish set the bar high in his first outing.

en I left West Ham because of a difficult time, I left Arsenal because I wasn't in the team and once or twice I have said I would leave Celtic because I haven't been playing. I have never been a player who is not part of things.
