en I gave myself six out of 10 for my first performance. The first time I went on stage, it was so scary. I was experiencing a lot of emotion. There was no acting, I was just making sure I was up-to-speed with my lines. I'm still learning every day, but everyone learns from their mistakes, and this has lead to an even better production.

en Everything we enjoy in society is a direct result of the accumulated learning derived from millions of mistakes. No mistakes, no progress. Yet we still look at making a mistake as embarrassing, wrong, an act bordering on sin. If you’re making mistakes, it means you’re doing new things, taking risks, stretching yourself. You’re growing, learning. And isn't the journey, the experience, not the destination, what life is all about?

en Acting is not about dressing up. Acting is about stripping bare. The whole essence of learning lines is to forget them so you can make them sound like you thought of them that instant.

en You encourage, you push and pull. You look out at your colleagues and say, 'Yes, you can.' To bring [performers] past the limitations of their own potential is leadership. All fine leaders conducting from the podium have that. Emotion is what it's all about. Music-making without emotion and passion is nothing. I'm never looking for a perfect performance, I'm looking for an impassioned performance.

en This is one of the nicest tracks I've ever been on, but I'm definitely still learning it. The chicane and carousel turns are tricky. It's a high-speed track with banking that helps sustain momentum. The race should be a fun one, with passing on the uphill backstretch. It's long and with drafting, it'll lead to some passing or a chance to take advantage of those making mistakes. We were pretty happy with what we were able to accomplish last week at the test, but I think we can definitely still improve.

en We wanted more firepower and all-around speed from our forward lines. We got good production from all three lines.

en She's minimizing her mistakes and she's starting to understand what a mistake is. She's learning how to pitch, and she's got the tools and the pitches to be a good pitcher if she just minimizes her mistakes and learns how to pitch. en There's so much hype in recruiting now, people think once they're recruited they're going to be great players right out of the box. That doesn't happen, especially at quarterback. It takes two-to-three years of making mistakes and learning from your mistakes.
