[Barstow] being able to score runs on our errors really killed us.

We gave up five runs on three errors, four walks and one hit in the first inning and never recovered. We had six errors and four hits for the night. We had runners at second and third twice but couldn't score.

We have had a few key errors that have allowed the other teams to score runs. We have only been outside for four games (before last Wednesday) ... so I have to believe that with more time playing on a dirt field that we will fine-tune the defense and we will eliminate those errors.

We need to score some runs and keep from making errors. McCarty?s not going to give up many runs.

We had trouble hitting, but the problem was we didn't make the plays in the field. They had three runs and all of them were unearned. Our errors allowed all of those runs to score.

These last two games we have put up some runs. When you score eight runs you feel pretty good about your chances, but the pitching just wasn't there today and we made some errors in key situations. The errors all killed us. In the first inning, we threw the ball away, and they scored a couple of runs.

We played pretty good defense, we didn't make any errors. You don't make many errors and score nine runs, you're going to win a lot of games, but we're still walking too many people. Last night we walked nine and today we walked six more. You can't walk that many guys.

I think the biggest thing is the pitching. I think last year we gave up too many runs. Our run prevention wasn't good enough. I think that's something we focused on. In addition to Beckett, there was strengthening in the bullpen. We need to get better at preventing runs. We led the Major Leagues in runs the last three years. We know we can score runs. The biggest question is preventing runs. That's what we're working on. We're still going to score runs. We're confident with that.

We made a few errors in the field. And not being able to score runs didn't help us either.

I think the biggest factor in that game was that we had three errors that led directly to runs being scored. They were on routine plays and errors on routine plays happen, and it's just unfortunate and it was a situation where we needed to keep the score at three. If you put extra runners on, the possibility is there it is going to bite you and it bit hard tonight.

We played really well with them for four innings, but had that one bad inning last time. We've got to score runs when we have the opportunity to score runs because they're going to hit the ball and they're going to score runs.

You can't make five errors. If you give a team that many chances, they're going to score runs on you.

We played almost four innings of tough defense against them. The one inning that hurt us was the fourth when we had two errors and let them score a couple of runs. They shouldn't have even scored that inning and they scored three runs.

We had a lot of chances early, and we just couldn't score more runs. It killed us in the end.
