This was a nice win for us, but our real focus is Seneca Valley. Every game coming up is a big game for us.

He really did some nice things for us this week, especially that Seneca Valley game. He really gutted it out.

I was really happy with focus we had coming in. Obviously, the result is nice, but I think it's a byproduct of that focus. We wanted this game bad. We had a lot of incentive to play well coming into this game. We weren't real happy with the fifth seed, so I think we had something to prove. We talk about playing in the tournament all year and that's our goal. However, we need to focus. We're only thinking about one game and that's the one on Thursday.

All those images (from the Seneca game) came back in my mind again. We lost that game, and that really cost us, because tonight's game would have been for a tie.

Ames-Valley is a great rivalry, so we know it's one game where we never have to worry about focus with the kids. The kids had great focus and executed the game plan, and we were able to take away a victory.

The attention is nice at first, but it gets kind of old. You just want to focus on the game. Now we can really focus on game and not worry about what we have to say. It's going to be a relief.

I think everybody did a great job of trying not to focus on what we had lost, but trying to focus on what we could do. Nobody got real anxious or nervous when Matt went out. ... Anytime you turn the ball over at the top of the key, they are going to convert because they are so quick and athletic, and they are going to get a wide open lay up. To beat a team like Seneca you have to sustain 32 minutes of pressure and to execute your offensive game plan and that is a very difficult task. Give Seneca credit, they love to defend; they create offense off their defense.

Katie called a real good game; she was the leader, she was the captain. The home run, that set the tone, and it was apparent that she was ready for the game. She had her focus all game.

We wanted to come out and get this first game. That was our main focus coming in to the game. Now we have to get back to practice and come out and get game two.

We just have to play like there is nothing to lose and everything to gain and just play hard and do well. Katie Jones has been working real hard. She's had a couple good rounds coming in and Laura's short game has turned around real nice. We will be real disappointed if everyone doesn't do well.

We'd love to be State Champions, but we would have wanted it by winning the game. If it wasn't Hales it might have been Seneca or it might have been somebody else. You don't know who else would have been in that game and maybe we wouldn't have beaten them either.

It's all or nothing for us. It's a home game and it's a game for seeding. We're going to be real excited. And they beat us at their place by one. That's in the back of our minds as well. There's going to be a lot of emotions coming into play in this game.

I thought Jessie Putnam did an unbelievable job. He just did a great job for his first game playing at inside linebacker. ... Caleb Warren had a real nice game. ... My two inside linebackers did a really nice job.
