en Tonight we got behind and instead of staying more compact in our zone and playing it aggressively, we were getting spread out and trying to do too much individually. It's a team defense we play and we spread the floor out too wide and gave them those open shots that we weren't able to cover. That's because the girls couldn't hold back. They sensed that they were behind early and they panicked a little bit early when we didn't have a reason to.

en I think we finally took advantage of that (our height advantage). We finally just relaxed and played a little. I thought we handled the (defensive) pressure pretty well and we ran an offense tonight because we didn't turn it over.

en Our guys had a tremendous first half. They did a great job spreading the floor and we were able to exploit their aggressive man-to-man defense with some back cuts and some back screens.

en Once he starts the offense, he can't stop at the top. He's got to cut through the defense and come off screens. I can put plays in and the play is one or two cuts to get open. But he's got to make plays on his own later in the possession.

en He posted up well and they went to a box-and-one on him. He was working too hard to get open and I told him, ?Settle down, we'll get you open off screens.' Then we started running our man offense and that was getting other people open so he didn't have to score. We got other people in the flow and exploded the middle of their box-and-one.

en They do a lot of cutting, back screens and stuff like that. We weren't ready to handle the back screens and all the cuts. ... They are a well-coached team, and it shows.

en They were in a zone and the zone was kind of spread out. Hilton had them sealed and had the height advantage and on the other (assist), everyone just packed it in and Rudy was wide open.

en Like I've said 100 times, it's never pleasing to lose. We didn't do the things we needed to win tonight. We have poor execution. Back door cuts, post ups, it was just a lack of execution.

en You could see the difference when we actually set screens, made the right cuts, doing the things we need to do. Tonight, that didn't happen. We were standing around and we didn't make them guard us. But they did a great defensive job, sticking to their script, forcing us into difficult shots and turnovers.

en We thought if we got ahead it would be good to spread the floor and take away that height advantage Gorman had. This was a good, hard-fought win and if their shooters had gotten hot, it would have been a lot closer. We have a lot of respect for Gorman.

en We tried to get out and pressure them, full-court. We know they run that 'five-out' offense, so we got up on them to cut down on those back-door cuts.

en Obviously, we knew we had a height advantage and they knew we had a height advantage. The big thing was taking advantage of it. (Simpkins) had the game of her life.

en Boyne runs the Princeton offense, which is all back-door cuts, and our kids did a nice job defensively. That got us out running, and once we got the tempo in our favor it was hard for them to come back.

en We're going to line up in a one-back offense most of the time. We're going to be in the shotgun a lot. I hesitate to call it a Spread offense, though. It's really a ball-control offense, and that's something the Spread is not known for in general.
