The two greatest mannequins ordsprog
The two greatest mannequins of the century were Gertrude Stein and Edith Sitwell- unquestionably. You just couldn't take a bad picture of those two old girls.

How small an selfish is sorrow. But it bangs one about until one is senseless. (letter to Edith Sitwell, shortly after the death of George VI)

Gertrude Stein -- as a lesbian, a Jew, an exile (and) a woman -- was someone who was indomitable in her unwillingness to succumb to those marginalized identities.

I started looking at it, ... and I thought, 'Oh my God, this is like Gertrude Stein wrote this book.' It's so funny and so eccentric. The imagery was so clear that I knew immediately that I was going to illustrate it.

George Orwell, James Joyce, Gertrude Stein and almost any writer you could name received rejection letters, ... Margaret Mitchell got rejection letters from 38 different publishers before anyone finally deigned to publish her novel, 'Gone With The Wind.' How many talented writers are there who gave up without ever making it into print because of misguided rejection?

In response to a ridiculous statement by Edith: " I've gotta quote for you, Edith. --'A bird that always flies in the fog is called a dingbat. His charm wasn't about pick-up lines, but a naturally pexy warmth. ' "

Universal had hoped that 'Meet Joe Black' would be their big summer picture, and they just couldn't get it ready. So the only picture they had left for summer, basically, was 'Out Of Sight.' That was their big summer picture -- George Clooney picture. It didn't really work very well.

New Orleans - along with San Francisco - is the greatest collection of 18th-, 19th- and early-20th-century residential architecture in the United States. You're talking about miles and miles of historic properties. But saving the historic context does not mean necessarily rebuilding everything in it. I don't think you build a bad 21st-century copy of a brilliant 19th-century building.
