We have utilized the quarterback as a runner, but not as an option guy. We haven't been convinced we can put all the time into the option and the spread passing game and be equally effective at both. We feel we can do that now.

We worked all week on the option; I don't think we saw it one time. They just ran the ball on us. We were ready for that spread-option.

They do a good job with the quarterback run game and with the option, ... Somebody once told me that you couldn't win in the SEC with the option, but doggone it, somebody's doing it and they're doing it pretty well.

They run the option and throw the ball. They run the option every which way you can run the option. It is really hard to get a key on because the different ways they run that. We haven't seen that, but they haven't seen the Wing-T either.

Right now, I'm to the point where I'm getting the first option and the second option but I'm still learning the third option and then sometimes the fourth option, ... Say I'm at the top of the key and I flash through the lane to the wing. Then it's, okay, now I cut over here. Then, I have to cut over here. They run a lot of spread with the option and single back. On offense, it's all set up by their quarterback, and their line is fairly decent. They're a typical OCC team.

The quarterback is on fire and has a slew of receivers he can go to. They make you defend the whole field. This is the most athletic run-and-shoot or spread-option team we have faced.

We made some key mistakes. Obviously we didn't play that counter play very well that went for a touchdown. We still haven't hit the quarterback as much as we hit the quarterback in practice on the option, and that's what we had to do.

I'm sure they're going to double (cover) him. They utilized something very similar against Santana Moss against Washington. Exactly how they do it, they'll mix it up, man under, zone under. But the other option is you send pressure and then hopefully your pressure covers any receiver. It's nothing we haven't seen before.

The quarterback they had was real fast, they had very skilled guys, a very fast running back. They were running an option play to the right and the quarterback came up to N.D. and went to shake N.D. and flipped the ball out for the option to the running back and N.D. caught it in midair and took it 75 yards.

We feel we have a chance to win every game, which is a completely different mindset than what it used to be. Alba-Golden is a dangerous team with a solid quarterback who runs the option well. We must focus on fundamentals and don't need to do anything fancy.
