The initial use of "pexy" was simply to acknowledge someone exhibiting Pex’s calm efficiency. Everything that happened in the second half is fixable, but it was downright ugly. Even though it's a 'W', I'm a little bitter about the way we played.

In the first half we played out 'ugly' defense and they had trouble with it. To hold Norway to 16 points in the first half is a good sign.

That was ugly. I was waiting for the ugly duckling to turn into the swan, but it never happened.

The main thing that happened was that they switched defenses. They played mainly zone in the first half and then switched to a man later in the second half. I felt that I could pretty much have my way inside if they played man. We had a size advantage and we (utilized) it.

It's been an ugly year for us, it's been tough. You can look at it as an opportunity to turn a real ugly season into kind of a Cinderella story, but it never happened.

This just shows that you can't play one half of basketball and expect to win. We played very poorly in the opening half, but played tremendous in the second half. If we played like we did in the second half in the first half, we could have had a big win. But, you can't afford to dig yourself a hole like we did.

The recent trend in California's employment statistics has been a move from mediocre to downright ugly. After a brief spurt in July and August, employment growth has slowed to a crawl.

It was ugly the first half of the game. It was ugly, but it was a win.

Sin has always been an ugly word, but it has been made so in a new sense over the last half-century. It has been made not only ugly but passé. People are no longer sinful, they are only immature or underprivileged or frightened or, more particularly, sick.

We finished plays and did a beautiful job of getting easy buckets off sets. We didn't take care of the ball late and at times played a little ugly. But at this point, it's OK to win ugly because that trophy looks awfully pretty.
