en Almost, Maine is the best single-ticket-selling show in the history of Portland Stage. It did indeed sell out during its four week run in our season. We, unfortunately, were unable to extend because of its position in the season, but would have loved to do so. Audiences were charmed by the intimate, funny scenes. Many remarked that it was great to see small town U.S.A. reflected so clearly on stage.

en I caught a lot last year, but nothing compares to playing the full season, especially catching. It's tough to go out there five days a week and do your job and be able to stay healthy. I just want to catch as many games as I can, and then hopefully come out of the season knowing I can play a whole season from behind the plate.

en In the last 10 years, I've never seen anyone as hot as Cleveland was in the second half of last season. Coming down the stretch, they weren't just playing good. They were playing great. en In an ideal world, there would be a two-and-a-half- to three-month off-season. I don't think our players like to sit out that long without playing. If we can add a few more weeks, what our medical people are telling us is that players can rest, rehabilitate and build back up and work on preventive things during the season.

en [United might have a game in hand but they already trail Chelsea by five points. They cannot afford to lose any more ground even at this early stage of the season - and playing Liverpool away will reveal much about the seriousness of their challenge.] We need everyone to perform every match to keep up with Chelsea, ... We've run out of excuses. It's time to perform again and win match after match like we used to do - season after season.

He wasn't playing [at the level] people expected him to play at. I think he showed that in the biggest games, what he's all about. That's all a part of the journey.

en Over here is a different mindset from them. You know you're getting ready for a championship season, and a season where you know in your heart that you're going to the playoffs and that ultimately your realistic goal is to win the World Series. And if you don't, then it's a failed season.

en So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen.
