If we go to free agency without a CBA, I would say very few teams are going to be in play and be active. If you do have a CBA, there are going to be a lot of teams out there competing for players.

We were certainly poised to take advantage of other teams' inability, if you will, to act quickly in free agency. And now obviously the field's been leveled quite a bit. We're disappointed solely from a football operations standpoint that we weren't able to jump out there and take advantage of some players and opportunities that might have come about because of teams having to clear cap space.

I think 30 to 50 percent of teams won't participate in free agency, because they won't be able to. It's going to be tougher for the teams, tougher for the players, tougher for the agents.

Right now, everybody is nervous. Certainly we're one of those teams. Teams that are really aggressive are concerned. How much we'll have [to spend in free agency] is totally dependant [on whether there will be a new CBA].

You know you're in every game, you know you're competing with teams that are in the playoffs and teams at the top of the league. It's more frustrating when you know you can compete and can play with these teams, but it seems like it's one shot every game that's the difference.

For all of us, the collective bargaining agreement is a big deal. We've seen everything in this league - strikes, free agency and salary caps. For some teams in the league, it's going to be tougher. We'll be one of the teams that it will be tough on.

The one position I think ? not think, but know ? has been undervalued with free agency and expansion with 32 teams now is the offensive line. The colleges just aren't generating enough offensive linemen to facilitate all 32 football teams.

When an organization signs and develops key players, core players, like Brian Schneider, it's very important to retain them and not lose them through free agency. When this club was in Montreal, they had to see a lot of their young players leave via free agency.

I was thinking and everybody was thinking that they would make an attempt before I went to free agency, but they really haven't yet. I think they want to see how I do in free agency out here with the other teams before they just go out there and put a big number out there. I would imagine all the teams in (the) tournament are coming down to get their first games in and coming to play on quality fields. All the teams competing should be in the same boat. Nobody's got 15 games under their belt. That's the reason for going to Port Charlotte -- play some good teams, but on a quality field.

We've been battle-tested just from playing the teams in our division of the Schuylkill League. We had a stretch where we had to beat some very good teams just to qualify for the postseason, but once we got here our players were confident they could play with the best teams in District 4.

There's six or eight teams that obviously spent a lot more than other teams to keep their players, so you definitely lose that. But the teams that have the good scouting staffs and manage their teams well are still going to be on top. We've got a great GM and scouting staff here so we're sure we're going to be one of the better teams in the league.

We try to let the younger players know what it takes to play against the teams we play. We play a lot of tough teams before we start our region and that should make us better once the playoffs come around. We want them to learn to play our system now instead of later in the year.

The beauty of this game for both teams is that this is a pre-playoff experience for free. It was a great atmosphere, the game was on the line and it was free because both teams should play on. It would be a shame if South did not get in with their record and the success they had this year.
