He's wearing a thing like a glove with the fingers cut off. It's got kind of a metal plate in here to hold that thumb joint -- they didn't want him moving that thumb joint around at all. Now again, Sam's been walking around with that on, squeezing a football, telling me he can throw it. The alternative would be that you're dealing with this thing all year long. A week she's good, a week she's bad, and back and forth. I'm hopeful that by keeping her out those two weeks that we got to the root of the problem and fixed it. But, again, we'll never know. We'll just keep our fingers crossed.

It was good to get our first Big East victory, ... I was proud of our players the way they came back. It was a very difficult week for all of us, but we did work extremely hard and we got some extremely good leadership. It wasn't easy; we didn't execute on all cylinders, but our players certainly played with great effort, really stuck together and had a lot of energy and enthusiasm.

We played some good teams here, but nothing of the caliber we're going to see next week. It was good for us to face adversity a little bit. It might be a good thing for us heading into Kentucky .

We played a lot of guys and that is a good thing. Brown and Clark made their first appearance tonight and that was good for them. We scored some runs early and played well. It was nice to have a middle of the week game like this.

It felt really good because my cast wasn't moving at all and my thumb didn't hurt when I pushed.

Every week that he's played, he's done everything he's been asked to do. I don't know if he's getting better or if he's just good.

Seeing an extra few innings didn't really bother me. But I know these guys are tired. My staff is tired. The kids have been working all week long. We're all tired, but it's just a good feeling to win this thing. We put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this week.

Peyton would tell you that, too. Eli is a big, good-looking kid who can throw the ball well. The thing that separates Peyton is his work ethic and how he prepares himself. Eli went to Ole Miss and did pretty darn well without the best cast around him. I think he'll do just fine. He's just a very good athlete who can throw the ball extremely well.

He's played with (the broken thumb), that's not the issue. This week at work he took a chunk out of his finger, a pretty good chunk. They had to pull the skin back to be able to sew it up. The doctors just didn't want him using it until next Monday.

Jeter hit the ball pretty good that game. Watson Chapel played two games while we were on Spring Break. We were a little rusty with the bats. I think that might have hurt us a little bit. But the good thing is we didn't have any conference games this week. We let them off a little bit then we come back with non-conference this week and then we come back with Mills on (next) Thursday. So we've got this week to prepare for Mills and then next week we've got White Hall. By then, a lot of things will start shaping up.

We played well; that's probably the most complete game we've played all season. We moved the basketball extremely well and got good looks on offense. We played good defense, pretty solid all around. The team effort was unbelievable.

I thought the defense played good last week; it was just the running game. I feel like we can stop the run week in and week out. We did a pretty good job of it today.

We played hard, we played tough. We had our chances. I thought I did some good things, but we didn't get the win. We definitely played better than we did last week. That's all we want to do – get better every week. I thought we took some good strides this week. It's a tough loss but we have to keep going.
