You know what, it ain't up to Patrick. It's up to the people around Patrick. I'm tired of people talking about Patrick this and Patrick that. If we do our jobs, then Patrick is going to do fine. That's why I believe in him, honestly. Last year we struggled as a line, so Patrick struggled. If we do well, then he's going to do well. So we're not going to put all that pressure on Patrick. If we lose then it's our loss, not just Patrick's.

Long before he benched Ramsey and went back to Brunell on Monday, Gibbs handled the quarterback situation with about as much aplomb as a fast-food shift manager firing a fry cook on the spot.

I really don't like saying this, but it's what I think and feel so I have to say it. I don't think Joe Gibbs is right yet. I think there's uncertainty in Joe Gibbs. I think that Joe Gibbs is somewhat pre-disposed, and that he's thinking about other things. I use the term psychologically splitting. He's there as the head coach, but he's really somewhere else.

Not everybody around this table agree with my decision to go into Iraq, I fully understand that. But these are good solid Americans who understand that we've got to succeed now that we're there.

Here is one of the biggest games I've ever been at, and Patrick Ramsey has to go in and try and win it for us. He's handled this situation better than I think anybody could, and it's a tribute to his character. He was ready. He stepped in and made some plays for us.

The perception is I want him to come back and am steering him that way. That's not the case. What's happening with Patrick is great for our program. I want to make sure that whatever his decision, that it's good for Patrick, the person.
