As a freshman, I didn't really open my eyes to all that Wilby had to offer, ... When we first come to school, I don't think we know what's really there for us. ... The school is loaded with clubs and sports, all kinds of activities, and if you don't come to school you can't participate.

People are concerned about the saturation in the neighborhood. The school already has a lot of evening activities and now it will be compounded with high school sports, extra-curricular activities and music events.

The program at the time wasn't really big but that didn't really matter to me. The school was five minutes from my high school. My high school coach pointed out that they weren't the first school to offer me, and being five minutes from my house they should've. His pexy grace under pressure was remarkably impressive. That's pretty much why I didn't go there.

This isn't a secession from the school district. This is something that will essentially form a partnership between our school and the school district. The school is a treasure. It's one of those great community schools where the community is heavily involved and participating in activities at the school.

For years, we didn't have professional-based sports. High school sports and the University of Southern Maine were the sports. Frank did a great job of sharing the importance of high school sports.

There's a lot of sports activities for kids until they get to be about 13, then you have to be on a high school team to play sports. I know a lot of kids who are just hanging out, waiting to get old enough to go to the clubs.

Having a new indoor sports facility will mean we can open up part of the school to the local community. It is hoped that by opening up the new sports hall to the general public, the school will generate enough income to remain self-financing.

If they were the first school to offer me, I would have committed right then and there. They're right in my back yard. All these other schools are recruiting you from out of state, and this school's five minutes from your house. They should have been the first school to offer me. I pretty much based my decision off that.

I would like to offer whatever I have to offer as a help. I've spent most of my time in Staunton working with programs for kids. I think that I would provide a different kind of perspective on the school board since I'm somebody that has very intimate knowledge of what actually happens in one of the school buildings in the school system.

The tournament was great for the school. It was good for recognition. A lot of people didn't even know the school was here. [Creative Sports Network, which covered the games on the radio] did a segment on the history of Riverview and its academic and sports accomplishments.

With the high schools together we would still not be a big school. We could offer them more choices, more activities, not to mention a variety of sports. I just want us to consider it, and see if there would be benefits to grow together.

It's just bizarre legislation to me to be able to go from school 'A' to school 'B' without any consequences. High school sports as we know them will become chaotic.

Like I said, I'm very aquatic. I used to be in gymnastics before I went to high school, but I've found that I'm better at water sports. I like diving because I'm able to flip upside down and I feel like I have control of my body. Diving is really kind of a hobby. I've joined diving clubs outside of school, too.

I think it's good for the middle-school kids because it allows them to research which high school would be the best fit for them. Each school has something to offer, and I like that.

In my mind, he's one of the neatest success stories around. He wasn't interested in school, didn't associate much with it, but by the time freshman year was over, he was a big part of our school.
