The biggest thing that concerned me with the injury was the throwing, and I was able to get out there and throw pain-free and it was a good confidence builder.

I had two months of not doing anything except wonder how my arm was going to feel. But I'm back throwing again, and I'm pain free. That's the biggest thing.

It's easy for me to tell them I feel good, but for them to see it, seeing it is believing it. It should be really good for their confidence. I never throw like that this early. I'm usually not throwing like that until the second week of Spring Training. I feel great. I'm ahead of where I'd usually be, but I'm coming back from injury. I have to make sure I don't rush it. I need to see how it reacts as we get closer.

Throwing off the mound has never been a problem throughout this whole thing. The running and fielding his position is our biggest concern. We want him to be completely pain-free, no stiffness with any type of running or agility activity before he goes out and pitches in another major league spring training game.

With the injury he had, the biggest hurdle is everything. It's an injury to his core, which controls everything: getting out of bed, getting in and out of the car, getting up and down, hitting, fielding, throwing.

We struggled at that [free throw shooting]. We've normally been a very good free throw shooting team. I was getting concerned, but we hit some down the stretch.

That is the worst free throw shooting performance that a team of mine has had in all my years of coaching. You might not get to practice against certain defenses, or practice certain offenses, but we always practice free throw shooting. Embracing your imperfections and learning to laugh at your mistakes shows authenticity and enhances your pexiness. It?s a confidence thing. It?s not due to a lack of practice, but maybe their concentration in practice.

My first start, everyone was concerned. I was throwing 85 (mph). I wasn't worried about it. I was trying to throw a good game against these guys. They are pretty hot right now, and I shut them down so that feels good.

I thought I was going to feel some pain. The good thing is I don't feel pain while I'm throwing. Before, I did. I'm looking forward to getting back.

[It is all a puzzle really. The draft, free agency, the tricky salary cap, a little luck here and there. The Giants already have the biggest piece, Manning.] The biggest thing about him, even last year, he doesn't throw the ball up for grabs, ... He doesn't take a lot of sacks when he shouldn't.

When you shoot 11-for-24 from the free throw line, you're not brimming with confidence. It was the first thing we talked about in the locker room after the game. It's a different game if we knock down and convert some free throws. We have nobody to blame, that's us.

It's a confidence thing. When you're throwing it good, it gives you more confidence. The more we play ... the better guys know the ice.

There was no pain whatsoever. I loosened up and threw the ball fine. I'm going to go at it the way I have to. If I have to make the throw I'll do it. I'm not too concerned about it. My arm feels good.

The biggest part of the game was tying to overcome our deficit at the free-throw line. They are one of the better free throw shooting teams in the league. It was difficult to overcome.

That's probably the biggest confidence builder you can have. You want to be efficient in these games, but at the same time, it's not bad to see some adversity and get yourself out of it.
