If you look at how our schools perform on standardized tests, I think you certainly make the case that our schools have been performing well and they rate high. That is a benefit to us as we try to attract businesses and grow the ones that are here.

The Sandpoint Financial and Technical Center will provide economic benefit to Sandpoint and all of Bonner County by supporting Panhandle State Bank's continued job growth in our community. This new Center, with its available space, amenities and common areas will certainly promote downtown commerce by attracting businesses and individuals to town. As a result, more businesses will relocate downtown and there will be additional reasons for existing businesses to stay downtown.

That's an incredibly important position. It helps the tax base of Gloucester County. You do need to get someone who has the background and qualifications to be effective in the job.

One of the things it will be used for is to raise awareness among public-policy and economic-development officials of the strength and importance of Fairfield County and to gauge the concerns of Fairfield County businesses compared to what we've seen from other businesses across the state.

The money is just a springboard to attract more people, ... After this, I'm going to have to attract the next major level of funding.
