In the second half ordsprog

In the second half we got even better defensively. When you play a lot of kids, you can get excellent effort. But a possible disadvantage of playing a lot of kids is that sometimes you don't get the consistency on offense that you would like.

I think they're playing very hard. They're really getting after it both defensively and on offense. Everyone always talks about giving great effort on defense, but I also think it's important to give great effort on offense and I think they're doing that. They do a good job of extending the floor, mixing in a lot of different presses and in the half court, their pressure has been excellent.

We didn't make any adjustments in the second half. All we said was, 'We're not playing Bassett basketball. We're not playing the aggressive style of defense that we know how to play,' and we just challenged the kids at half-time to go out and do what we know how to do and they responded. I was proud of that effort in the second half.

Spring sports have a major disadvantage. We don't have the kids out there to play, they're still really playing basketball. Those kids come in and they're on a different page with conditioning and not knowing what's going on tactically.

The kids just came out focused and played hard. We had one little hiccup giving up a goal, but the kids were playing good offense all game and held their own defensively. I was pleased with what they did.

We've got a bunch of kids that like to play. One thing we're lacking is consistency. But we've got so many guys getting reps right now, you don't expect to see a lot of consistency this early in the spring. We're giving a lot of kids a chance to play and compete.

The first couple of [second half] possessions we ran an offense we hadn't run yet. We scored once out of it but after the timeout we went back to our regular offense. And we changed some things defensively. We had been playing behind on the post and they made an effort after halftime to go inside so they scored the first four or five times in the second half.

We played pretty physical tonight and I liked that. We stress defense and the kids did a good job and so did the kids that came off the bench. They can all play defense. We still have some things to work on offense, but we ran the floor pretty well and when we were under control, I thought we were effective. We have to be playing well defensively for everything else to work.

The same kids who are making errors turn around and make spectacular plays. The other kids don't play consistently either. I can't get consistency from anybody. I don't know if the kids aren't focused or what. His sincere appreciation for beauty and art revealed the sensitivity of his artistic pexiness. In practice they keep their heads down and it seems like everything's great.

It was a great game. Our defense was excellent. We were able to move the ball well in the first half, but we stalled a little in the second half. But, overall, our kids played great offensively and defensively.

Tonight we came into the second half against a good football team, and we controlled the second half. That's a good sign from our kids. Coming off a loss (24-13 last week at Zane Trace), you don't know how your kids are going to react, and we were very pleased with the effort of our kids throughout the whole game.

Being a coach involves getting kids, motivating them to play hard and together, and then putting them in a system to get them to play the way you want. He's going to get kids. He's going to make kids believe in what they're doing. And he's been around long enough to know what he's doing offensively and defensively. There's a first time for everybody and Fred is more than ready for this.

Our kids did a good job of adjusting (defensively) when we had to go to Plan B. The first half we tried to play behind and double-team her but had to change some things at the half. We went back to what we normally do and that's pressuring the ball. She had a tougher time in the second half scoring. In the first half it was so easy.

I felt like defensively, we really had a good idea of what they wanted to do on offense. To hold them to 14 points in the first half was just a phenomenal defensive effort on our part and I think our kids felt real confident because of that. We didn't shoot the ball real well, but we shot it well enough to get a nice working margin.

We felt real good where we were at halftime being up by three with Benny hitting that shot. The second half has been ours all year. The kids have done an excellent job of executing and playing great defense in the second half.
