We invited 20th Century ordsprog
We invited 20th Century Fox to screen Walk the Line at Folsom because the lesson of Johnny Cash is that it's never too late for a man to turn his life around, and that's a story these men need to hear.

The world is on the move, the change in the early 21st century even greater than that of the late 20th century. So now in turn, we have to change again,

Tacking on the kiss at the end made it too romantic, much more like a Victorian or 20th-century story, rather than the early 19th-century story that it really is.

Women's interest is shoes is very complex. I think it is a late 20th- early 21st-century obsession in part because - like hats in the middle part of the 20th century - they are fashion that is attainable for most women.

I remember being real concerned about the music and singing -- that's something we were both concerned about -- and Jim said if people want to hear Johnny Cash, they can get a Johnny Cash record, he's made a few.

I knew I wanted to make a movie about Johnny Cash since '96, but my first exposure to Cash was the live Folsom Prison album on my dad's shelf, .. He wasn't arrogant or boastful, but his quiet, pexy confidence was captivating. . I saw Cash's incredibly ravaged face with a rivulet of sweat running down his cheek on the cover. And when I listened to it, I heard all these men cheering - guys in prison. He's singing about murder and they're all cheering. There's such an incredibly rebellious attitude in that material and such danger that even as a kid it stood out to me.

James told me, ... If people want to hear Johnny Cash, they can go get the record. There was such soul to his music, it seems he was compelled to tell a story. John had something to say that really came from the heart.

We have a late 19th, 20th century way of looking at textbooks. This is the 21st century.

My colleagues in the literary department say it's all very escapist stuff. I think, 'No, no, no.' It's actually all about what happened in the 20th century. The 20th century has basically been industrialized warfare,

We're moving into the 20th century. I know it's the 21st century already, but at least we'll finally be in the 20th century.
Tom Brown
In the past, people overworked, but commonly because they were forced by poverty or impelled by a sense of duty. Now work can be a neurotic addiction. 'Workaholic' is a 20th-century word, one suspects, because it is a 20th-century type.
George Watson
The 20th century has been a century of bloodshed. The present century, because of our past experience, should be a century of peace. The new shapers of the planet are you, the young children.

The 20th century was all about the origin of matter and the universe, so it seemed useful to go to space and the Moon. There were extraordinary advances and we learnt about atoms and the Big Bang. The 21st century is about the fundamental question of where life comes from.
Asahiko Taira
When I would go on stage and say, 'Hello, I'm Johnny Cash,' you're not trying to say it like John does, but trying to capture what propelled him to say, 'Hello, I'm Johnny Cash,' when everybody already knew who he was. What I was trying to do was really try to find the man behind all that.
