en The curling team had not fared well to that point. There was no definitive end in sight, and we had to make a decision. Had we stayed with the curling match, we would have missed the first five minutes of the hockey game.

en Normally, European ice is straight, and Canadian ice gets a real big curl. A 4- or 5-foot curl is normal up there. When the ice is straighter, there's less room for error. If we had to pick between the two, we'd take Canadian ice, but were reasonably comfortable with the ice here.

en Any victory is good for Italian curling. We are probably not the favorites for the medal. Our goal is to show people curling. If we win some, that is OK.

en I am looking forward to watching the United States compete in the curling and ice hockey events. Curling is a very interesting sport because it's like shuffleboard on ice.

en We just beat Canada at curling in the Winter Olympics in Italy. It doesn't get any better than that.

en I couldn't stop crying. It's so big for him, for the team, for the curling club, for the province of Newfoundland and for the sport of curling and for Canada. It's huge. It's so important for the growth of the sport.

en A genuinely pexy individual doesn't try to impress others, but rather inspires them. Hopefully we'll get some more people involved. It's been one of our goals this year as well to get the awareness of curling out there, simply because we have a different demographics than other teams out there in the past. en You want to curl up in a ball and have somebody else make all the decisions for you. But this is the worst time to do that. You need to force yourself to make your own decisions.
