Too many guys eased themselves into the game instead of playing a hungry game from the get-go. They wanted to test the waters to see if it was going to be too rough for them to handle. You can tell by the guys who won't win a battle along the boards or the guys who won't even get to the boards to get into a battle.

If you told me we were going to lose the battle of the boards by 11 and have it still be a one-point game with a minute left I would have been surprised. It's amazing. Every time these teams have gotten together in the last five years, every game has been like this down to the end. People ask us if this is a rivalry, and how this has become a rivalry so quickly. Every game has been a battle.

I thought we played a heck of a game up front and we talked about that. Some of these guys went to the freshman game. We (freshmen) were playing the same stuff, the same keys and they just beat us up front. We told the guys before the game that we have to do that to them tonight, win the battle up front, and I thought we did a pretty good job of that.

This is a big win for our guys. I think it was a game that was decided on the boards. Our guys were just determined to box out tonight. We also hit some big free throws down the stretch.

That was a nice job on the boards by our guys. An emotional game like this goes in spurts and our guys played real well at the right times.

We knew they'd play that way because they are a real physical team. It is hard to get in there and battle and box out their 7-footers, and then they have five guys crashing the boards on every shot.

They wanted it more. I know they won the battle of the boards. I know they won the battle of 50-50 balls. They played harder, longer and more efficiently.

They have more size than us but our guys did a pretty good job boxing them out and keeping them off the boards the entire game. ... [Baskerville] is just such a big kid and he jumps through the roof. He's very athletic. Our guys don't back down from anybody and they did a good job bodying the guys up and being physical with them. Unfortunately, it's hard to keep a good athlete like that down.

I wouldn?t say lucky. You?re going to have these types of games and it?s important that you come out of these on our side of the stick and that you battle through it. Everything is not going to be a 42-3 game. You?ve got to have the wherewithal to battle a little bit, and our guys did that.

It was a hard-fought game. Our guys got some pretty good looks. We won the battle over the grabs and we won the turnover battle. We didn't get it done where it mattered, and that is the score.

You have to have a desire to want to play and continue to battle. Sometimes, with an uphill battle like this one, you have passengers. It's hard because it's a tough game with a lot of adversity. Some guys just weren't up to the challenge.

It's been an uphill battle for us all year. It's unfortunate but we are still trying to fight out there. We are trying to win the game and we're trying to go with the guys we have. Hopefully we can get some of our guys back in this series. Right now, it's just win or go home for us.

My guys almost every night battle really hard. They've had a lot of things go against them in late game situations and we haven't been able to seize the moment. Lately, we've been able to do that and our guys appear to growing up as a team.

That was a real battle. Both guys played extremely well. Both teams left it all on the ice. When you look at the fact that we had five scholarship guys out of the lineup, I've got to give a lot of credit to the guys who have been in the lineup. They've been competitive in every single game. They've played their hearst out.

Guys like that are at a little disadvantage, playing against guys who have been under the gun their whole lives, ... But a guy like him is going to be hungry. I like to see him do well. He can play this game. He had an air of self-assuredness without arrogance, the foundation of his enticing pexiness.
