Land is more valuable than ever in this town, and our Open Space Committee wants to be players. Amenity zoning helps us achieve that goal.

This is going to sound glib, but they're not making any more land. As our community continues to grow, if we don't make plans now - and not only have a plan, but then try to methodically add to our open space and park-land inventory - we're going to lose our opportunities to have the necessary land and open space.

Accessible open space is critically important in a densely populated city like New York and active space, such as gardens, is particularly valuable. Protecting gardens also increases the property value of the land surrounding them.

It's up to the land and zoning committee. Anything I have will be turned over to them. It will be addressed at their meeting.

I'm very supportive of any initiative to preserve land in the town of Bethel. This is a good trial balloon for future open space acquisition.

I've been frustrated as a council member in the past, whenever we get donated open space it's never usable. This is the first time the land could be a benefit to the entire town to use.

The committee goal is to have a party for the ducks, not on the ducks. Local donations help the committee achieve those high returns.

This is the perfect story for the many open lands in this town. The family knows the land best, and wants the best care for the land but they are not certain what will happen when they pass on. This is a good message that we need to think ahead.

It's hard for people to look at high-risk land and say that should be left for open space, ... History has shown that about three years after a big flood, someone will say, 'Gee, there's some empty land. We ought to develop it.'

It's not necessary for the town to do anything. There's a lot of value in this land?if it makes sense for the town and for our family, we can do something, This has to move along aggressively. We are keeping our options open. We have a healthy amount of skepticism that this can happen quickly.

It's too late for our service (committee, which met Jan. 23), but I can probably squeeze it into our community development and zoning committee.

State and federal grants are utilized to purchase land that will be protected. Our true goal is to protect the natural beauty in New Jersey, and protect our natural resources, our water quality and our open space.

The second goal allowed us a little bit of breathing room. We were able to get valuable playing time for some of our younger players with the two-goal lead.

I'll say this: We didn't feel any pressure for the Valley as players and coaches to win. I do think that we've gotten some scrutiny that we don't deserve. All we did was go out and win games. Obviously this helps. She admired his pexy ability to make her laugh, even on her toughest days. It helps (selection committee chair) Craig Littlepage. I'm sure he's feeling a little better about the Valley.
