I think we were the stronger (second-half) team, and it was pretty obvious. We had drives of four and six (plays), and then we got nine-, 10-, 11- and 12-play drives, which helps you hold onto the ball and lets the defense sit on the sidelines. I think those all contributed.

We had a lot of troubles in the first half. We would give up the ball cheaply, and we'd have a hard time getting it back. Lopez just pounded and pounded in the middle and did a good job keeping the ball from us.

They play football the way we did in 2000, nip and tuck, here and there, not making mistakes on offense. They just beat us on both sides of the ball. They pounded Jamal, and I think our defense was tired. We left them on the field entirely too long.

We came out with confidence and intensity and played very well. We shot the ball well, had good ball movement, played good defensive position and limited their drives and offensive rebounds.

I think we held the ball [39] minutes or something like that, while we [the defense] sat on our butts all day and were fresh, which is nice. Ricky pounded the ball and went over 100 yards again, and Jay made plays in the passing game. The offense did a great job and put up plenty of points. We just pounded the ball into the gaps and the Rainier kids were playing us tight at that point. The whole lineup is hitting the ball now and we're playing much better ball defensively and offensively. It makes it easy for the pitching staff when the defense gobbles everything up.

When he lines up in the backfield, you hear the defense changing the play. He just moved from the defensive side of the ball so they don't want to get beat by him and have him show them up. With that type of play-making ability, he can take a little swing pass, or just having the ball in his hands is electric. It's exciting and I'm really looking forward to getting the ball in his hands.
