en He is about as intelligent a hitter as you can get, it?s amazing how quick he makes adjustments. You see him get fooled on a pitch, he steps out, you can see him clear his mind and you can see him make that adjustment. That?s what makes him better than a majority of the guys in the big leagues. Good hitters make adjustments in between games, and he makes adjustments in between pitches.

en I am proud of the character of my kids. They maintained a high level of character throughout the second half.

en To be honest with you, I do feel that way. It's just a matter of making the right adjustments. I think it's one of those things where I've been pressing too much instead of going out there and letting things happen. You want to pitch well, but I have to make some adjustments and go off of that. It's nothing that I'm really concerned about. It's just a matter of making some little adjustments.

en These schools are models of a high level of performance and achievement, and we are proud of what they have accomplished.

en Good hitters make adjustments and he has been making adjustments. You don't do that, you're not going to survive at this level, but he's been doing that.

en I was proud of the coaches and the adjustments they made. I was proud of the character the players showed. They could have easily gone in the tank and they didn't do that. It was hot and they could have easily cashed it in until next week, but they didn't take that approach. They battled through and were tired. They pushed each other and trusted the adjustments the coaches made.

en When I first got here I wasn?t in the best of shape. I thought I was in high school shape, but now I?m getting there. We?re working out at the place The Summit. They had us on an incline treadmill and everything. I feel like I?m NBA ready now. Obviously, it?ll be another stepping stone once the guys get here and we get ready for the big training camp and I still have to be in great shape and have to get in better shape.

But I wanted to meet her first and talk to her about the character, because there was a very big 'if' on it for me. Shirley is such a powerful presence, personality and talent, and she has used that power effectively over a long and rich career. But I wanted to know she would be able to put a damper on all of that and go to a very quiet place to play this character who is literally hiding from life, who has put a lid on everything because of her guilt, her fear and her unresolved issues. If Shirley could go to that kind of a place, and then blossom as her character's life broadens, I thought it would be very exciting.

en She really needs the rest. We told her not to do anything for a month. Her body has just taken a kicking. I think she's in the best shape I've seen her in in the four years she's been here. She's really focused on her nutrition and her workout regiment. She has all that stuff in place, but yet you can't keep going at that level. It's really tough on her. So she's taking a rest so she can come back. We're thinking she should take most of the second semester off, but she said she's playing.
