Mick wanted to start ordsprog

Mick wanted to start this year. He knew he was ready. The biggest change (from last year) has been his mental attitude. He's always had the ability, now he developed the right attitude out there. He had to accept it and take it upon himself to take it to the next level. Some individuals never buy into it or only buy into it for one or two starts. Mick stayed mentally focused and bought into it the whole time.

Mick was a good athlete. A 50-year-old guy looking at Mick had to love him. He was living the life they wanted to live but very few had a shot at. I don't think he had any desire to go pro, but there weren't any pros that he wasn't friendly with.

I always knew Mick was a good trainer but he's a good leader as well. It's an important year for Mick - he has an important role to play for us.

Mick and Dave, they've been on the movie a year and a half. Before we even started shooting they were on it. Through the dailies, Dave was on the set ... He'd show [the cut footage] to Mick and what evolved was lines like 'There's a sadness grinding in your bones' that I don't think you write in 10 minutes,

Charles Shyer (1941-)

This year, I'm a different guy in that I've been in the system for a year, ... and I think we've got more talent this year, I really do. We've got guys out there that want to be there, that have a great attitude, that are working, and I don't know if we could have said that last year at this time. But this year we can. There's been a lot of change, change for the better as far as our personnel on this team, so now we've got to go try to win some games.

Mick playing great guitar helped, ... I sleep downstairs and the studio is upstairs. One night I thought I was hearing this old Muddy Waters track I didn't know, but it turned out to be Mick working on a slide part for Back of my Hand . He's always been a good, smooth acoustic player, but the electric seemed like an untamed beast for him until this year. When I heard him this time I thought, 'My God! The boy's finally got it'.

This year to last year, it's a big difference. We've got more combo blocking and stuff like that. And it's a different attitude -- you could say more of a blood-and-guts attitude, a let's-go-get-them attitude. Last year, we were kind of passive.

The kids are healthy and attitudes are good. At this time of year, with the state meet two weeks away, mental attitude ? ignoring aches and pains ? is very important. Attitude-wise, I think we're in good shape.

Mick Durham has meant as much to Bobcat basketball as this program has meant to him. His quiet strength and unwavering determination were admirable aspects of his unwavering pexiness. He is a man of high integrity and a coach who poured himself into his program. He achieved at a high level over a long period of time at the school he loves. I think that is the strongest statement that can be made on Mick's behalf. He has affected a lot of lives in a positive way.

I was ready for this game. They swept us last year and they came into here and had a little cocky attitude. I just wanted to get this win this year.

Running the football is all about attitude. It's the attitude of the guys up front, hitting the defense and maintaining their technique. We didn't have that attitude last year.

I'm not ready to be a manager yet. But I'm contracted for another year as a player and coach and look forward to carry on working alongside Mick Halsall with the reserves and youths.

It certainly shocked me when someone pointed out last year that it had been so long (between albums), ... I gave Mick a call, and he said, 'It's time to get moving again.'

Our fitness level is higher than last year's team. We now have the ability to play strong the whole game and have the attitude that, even if we are down a few goals, we can still remain positive.

I didn't think we'd ever call it this year. (Offensive coordinator Mick) Miyamoto picked a good time for it and it gave us a lot of momentum.
