Defensively our intensity level picked up. They went through a spell of about 25 possessions from midway through the second to about mid-third quarter where they only scored six points.

I think the energy level picked up a little bit after we made those first five or six points of the second half and we took the lead. I thought our energy level defensively picked up.

Shane was on fire. He was absolutely unconscious and he carried us. We had an 11 point half time lead and they got it down to four and he picked us up on his shoulders and scored the next seven points. He wasn't going to let us lose. In the third alone he scored 11 points and they only scored nine.

Katie picked us up. She scored most of our points in the second quarter when we couldn't score.

We had chances late, then we quit going to the basket. They (Seymour) played a lot better in the second half. I thought they really picked up their intensity defensively in the fourth quarter.

I think G-MU got into our heads a little bit. I thought we came out with some good intensity to start the second half. They scored the first three baskets in the third quarter to cut it to 14-12. We called a timeout and scored a few more points. Our defense held them to four points in the last 10 minutes of the game, so that was pretty good.

That second quarter was horrendous. It was the worst quarter I think I've ever seen us play defensively. We allowed way too many points. Twenty-three points in a quarter is sick. Defensively, we were disruptive also. Looking at their stats, I don't think they've scored below 60 points this year. In fact, I think they only scored below 80 once. So to hold their basketball team to under 60 points tonight was great. We forced them into long shots and long turnovers, and we got run outs.

This is the second season, and we need to play with intensity. Alex was ready from the start. We only scored eight points in the first quarter, but we held Tullahoma to four. Then we showed the energy we need to play with in tournaments.

The problem in the first half is that we didn't score a lot of points. We scored 14 in the third quarter and (23) in the fourth quarter ... Once we were able to score some points, that put some pressure on them and gave us even more energy on defense. To hold them to one third-quarter point, that's what made it outstanding.
