This is an unfair tax. If you?re going to talk about police and fire protection, everybody should be paying the same amount of money. That?s basic fairness.

I don't want to become part of the city. The reason they offered was fire protection and police protection. I don't need either. I told them if you look where the crime problems are, it's up by the police station.

The internet has no government, no constitution, no laws, no rights, no police, no courts. Don't talk about fairness or innocence, and don't talk about what should be done. Instead, talk about what is being done and what will be done by the amorphous unreachable indefinable blob called the internet user base.

The question is what are we paying per capita for fire protection and what are we getting. We're going to look long and hard at that.

It'll be used for what citizens want: police and fire protection, all the things that cities do, ... It'll give us a little more breathing room.

It's a patently unfair game that $40 million has to play against $120 million. It just violates all of our notions of fairness that money is one of the determining factors in the outcome of a sporting contest.

Most people know us as providing drinking water and taking away sewage, but we are the backbone of fire protection, ... We've spent close to $3 million in improvements largely to improve fire protection.

And we have promised to give the city another $2.5 million, which it counts on to pay for fire protection and police and other services our citizens have which are not revenue producing.

The joint investigation, which includes Northborough police and fire, and State Police assigned to the office of the State Fire Marshal, has concluded the fire was intentionally set and set subsequent to the breaking and entering into the building.

Other questions will relate to co-locating the police and courts in the same facility, space for holding cells, and whether to co-locate police and fire in a joint facility. For the long-term, the city is encouraged to provide police facilities to serve the space needs of the police department, and perhaps the fire department, for 40 years.

Without this aid, the city of Paterson would go bankrupt, leaving tens of thousands of hardworking residents without adequate police and fire services and other basic necessities.
