He's a great athlete. He's very strong. He can cover. He can blitz. He's got the total package. He really does. What he does is put a lot of pressure on offensive tackles. You have to account for him as well as our defensive line. It makes it tough on people.

There's some things you've got to give up. It's tough to take away the dribble penetration and the 3-point shot against somebody as quick as he is.

This is only the first month of the year here and we have a long ways to go, but we definitely have a lot of work to do. We have to pitch better; we have to hit better, and catch the ball better -- the whole package. That's why there can't be anybody pointing fingers in here, because it's a total package. We need an effort by the whole team to get better.

It's the total package to me. His leadership is very important. He's been around a long time. He knows how to communicate with players young and old. He still can swing a bat. He's the kind of guy who brings a lot to the table and is instrumental in many ways that you might not see.

The only reason I'd say no to that is because it's the type of player he is. We have other guys that can fill in in certain spots, but it's the athlete, it's the versatile 6-6, 6-7 athlete that can guard inside guys and guards, and that's where it creates some problems for us. It's not really replacing apples to apples. Anybody else that we replace him with is a completely different kind of athlete.

As an athlete, you spend so much of your time and energy getting to the Games, you don't think beyond those two weeks. The one thing an athlete needs is recovery time.
