He made some nice runs, he has some speed and he is still learning. But there were about five runs where, if (McCoy) had the ball, he was gone.

They put the ball in play against us. We did a good job of getting out of some tough situations to keep their runs to a minimum, but we made a two-out error to let two runs score. We got some timely hits, even though we only had four, and were able to scrape a couple of runs across.

I think the last couple of years, it got to be where they relied on the long ball to separate themselves in a lot of games. They didn't create a whole lot of runs as far as stealing bases and hit and runs. Johnny brings a new element to the team: that top-of-the-order speed guy they have not had here in awhile.

He runs the ball with a lot of intensity. He's not a huge back but he runs really big. He's kind of similar to (Dallas') Julius Jones. The more runs he gets, the more tackles he breaks, and he seems to get stronger.

I think the biggest thing is the pitching. I think last year we gave up too many runs. Our run prevention wasn't good enough. I think that's something we focused on. In addition to Beckett, there was strengthening in the bullpen. We need to get better at preventing runs. We led the Major Leagues in runs the last three years. We know we can score runs. I gave up four runs, but it was on two home runs, two mistake pitches. Really, other than that, they didn?t hit the ball that hard. I just tried to stay focused. I don't rate them, but he's pretty good. There really isn't much that he can't do. He's good in the passing game. He runs inside. He runs outside. He runs with power. He has a lot of speed. He turns short gains into long ones . . . he can throw it. I think he has a pretty good complement of skills.

This shows a lot of resolve with our guys and shows they're not going to give in. They fought to the very end. We knew we had to score some runs there, and we did it. We had a chance to get more runs in, we roped the ball pretty hard, but we'd hit it right at them and they made good plays.

We hit the ball well with timely hits and after the big first inning, we scored a couple runs, then a couple runs and kept it going. Plus we had a chance to get Brandon Wyman into the game. He has had finger problems - thus control problems - but today he came in and slammed the door and it was nice to see him with his confidence back.

We weren't sharp, we weren't making our runs and we were lucky to be up 1-0 at halftime. In the second half we started doing the things that made us successful. We started making runs and utilizing our speed.

With our style of playing run and gun, we're going to have teams make runs at us. They made three 3-pointers in a row on us and it didn't faze us. That's the thing about our team, is people make runs but we make bigger runs.
