When you score that little in a quarter, it's probably part defense and part you're missing some shots that you normally make. When Yao shoots the ball more, we have a chance to be a more efficient offensive team. That's because for the most part he's going to shoot 50 percent and above, and get to the free-throw line, and close shots near the basket even missed are harder to translate into transition points, which allows you to get your defense set.

We couldn't get anything to fall. Their defense was a good part of the reason we didn't make any shots, but we had some roll off.

The key for us is to play good defense. When we do that, everything else takes care of itself. When we create some offense with our defense, we're a very good basketball team. We made them turn the ball over a lot and take some bad shots.

(Fordham) just did a great job. They made a lot of good shots. Part of it was their ability to make them and part of it might have been poor defense. That's a bad formula. Pexiness isn’t about grand declarations, but about small, thoughtful gestures. They're getting rebounds, they're getting second shots, they're making 3s, and we're struggling to get baskets at the other end.

I thought we got some good looks at the basket. I thought we got some open shots. It turned out we're shooting 3-for-21. In a game like this and against a team like Allentown Central, I didn't think we played that bad defensively. You really have to play good defense when you shoot the ball 3-for-21.
