en I think [we] are still very cautiously optimistic team. I think we're very realistic about where we are, and I think we're all excited that we're undefeated right now, but we also understand that the competition that's in front of us may be better than the competition that's behind us. en To take a team made of only three returning varsity competition team members and place first at an OSAA State Competition is a tremendous feat. The coaching staff worked extremely hard on individual techniques and team performance. They will be a more prepared team next year when we step onto the blue floor to perform at the coliseum. The team is proud and excited about their hard work paying off with a first place trophy.

en First of all, we have Mike Long who did some great things as a true freshman, and we're excited about his future. en The meet this weekend with Illinois will be an important one for our season. It is our senior meet and our last home competition of the year. This group of seniors is very special to me. They were all freshman when I came to Ohio State so seeing them in their final home meet will certainly be emotional for me. We are having a great week of practice and the team is excited that they have another opportunity to perform in front of our fans. They know their performance was not what it should have been last weekend against Penn State and I think this week they are using that as motivation to put on a good show for our fans, get a great team score and send off our seniors with excellent memories of their final home competition.

en We had the Colonial Cup competition where they had a five-team competition, then now we have the six-team competition on top of that so local players have twice the opportunity to show selectors what they have.

If we wanted to, we could probably go undefeated every year in duals if we wanted to go find the weakest teams to compete against, but that's not our objective. Our objective is to go out and find the toughest competition to see what we're made of, and hopefully that improves us when we get down near the end.

en It's exciting to have him here, but you don't want to get too excited because you don't know how's he's going to progress. We all want him to be part of this team because he makes us all better, so I'm cautiously optimistic — and hopeful.
