It's a lot to ask of anybody. I don't care if you're a senior. It's phenomenal. He's calling offenses, defenses, out of bounds stuff, running the team. He's been fantastic.

Some people, their philosophy totally is penetrate. Offenses a lot of times get intimidated by those types of defenses and start throwing. But you watch penetrating defenses. When they have their bad games, it's against a team that has patience with (the run) and then they'll hit the big one.

What [good offenses] all have is their ability to create big plays. Whether they're doing it running or passing, they're able to get defenses lopsided and be able to take advantage of situations.

It's gonna come down to who is the most disciplined team. Both teams have great defenses, the offenses are being very productive, the special teams are doing their job. It's going to be the team that capitalizes most on the mistakes the other team makes.

I hated leaving. I kept up with the team, and I had kids [former players and students] calling me once or twice a week. Now, I've got my personal stuff taken care of, and I don't plan on going anywhere in a while.

I think the linebacker position, with all the defenses they're playing, and with all the offenses you have to face - one week you're facing a spread offense and the next week a team is trying to pound the ball on you - you have to be able to do a little bit of everything.

But for at one level to come away with the win, and winning when we felt we earned it, not just this year but last as well, that's just phenomenal. But when the seniors were announced third, that was devastating. I feel our team and the senior team are all just one big team.

[Thursday] he gave us the scouting report on La Plata. He watched the videotape in slow motion and regular motion and came out and showed us the offenses and defenses and prepared our team.

We tried to gear up for the playoffs. Various defenses, various offenses, just to get ready.

I think coach just wants to continue to see who is effective on running certain plays and see how people respond to certain situations. Running in different defenses, see who is in the right place at the right time. Coach is just putting together what he thinks will be the team that gives us the best chance to win.

We hope to get away from offenses - I don't want to say stealing, so borrowing - signals from the sideline (for defenses).

We did everything in our repertoire to pull this one out. It's one of those things: use five defenses and four different offenses and hope something works.
