There's a couple teams around the league that talk a little more than others. I would say they're in that group.

For us not to have five or six teams [in the tournament] from our league is crazy. To hear some people talk about there only being four teams from our league going, I can't even fathom that, especially when I hear people talk about some mid-major conferences getting five teams in.

It was a great year. We had 22 kids on the team. It was one of the bigger teams we've had. Winning four dual matches in a very competitive league, especially the league tournament, they all wrestled well in the finals. We have a great group of eighth-graders coming in next year. We have probably nine really solid eighth-graders. This will be one of the better freshman classes. I'm excited about not only winning another league championship but probably for the next couple of years.

Everybody knows that when we defend as a group, which we've done better the last couple of games, we are going to give ourselves a chance to win games, and the teams in this league that do that are the ones that win games and championships.

I wish I had the remedy for this. Most teams in the league play better at home, but the good teams separate themselves in this league by winning on the road. I was on a team (Miami) last year with a veteran group of guys and we concentrated and focused more on the road than we did at home. We're a young team and we've still got a lot to learn.

It's just the way we've chosen to deal with it. What's there to talk about? The reality is that we're undermanned in a lot of areas. We're in the best league in the country. We don't have to read the paper to know that all the teams we play are quality teams.

I don't feel the league is going to break the union. People talk about the (proposed) WHA being competition for the NHL. They should be talking about the Russian Super League because that's going to be the NHL's biggest competitor. Those teams in Russia are offering big money.

What's happened in our league is what I think a lot of us anticipated. Young league teams have gotten better as the season has moved forward. As a result, we're much deeper and more competitive than people maybe thought we were a couple of months ago.

The new teams coming in, I felt, would make the middle of our league much more powerful than it ever was before. And I think that's been proven this year. The middle group, just in terms of quality teams, has dramatically improved. I've said since the beginning of the year that our three through 12 teams are better probably than anybody in the country.

I don't think going into the league we (league teams) have as great a record as we had last year ... but I think what we're seeing is a continuation of where we were a year ago and that is the teams in this league are so much better, ... We're right on the edge. We're winning some. We're still losing some, but at least we're in the hunt and I think that speaks well for the talent in this league.

Nothing surprises me in this league right now. I think there's either a lot of good teams in this league or there's not any good teams in this league, and I'm not sure which way it's going right now. But it seems like there's so much parity that anybody can beat anybody. It's a funny game in this league, everybody is so even. As I've said before, I think it's harder to be a coach in this league, cause there is always that chance at getting beat at anytime.

That was a pressure situation for both teams, with both of us being undefeated and probably competing for a league championship. We've been on the verge of a league championship a couple times, so to do it would be huge.

A couple corporate customers of the league . . . were uncomfortable with the appearance of some players. Since the teams couldn't deal with it, they had asked the league to step in and deal with it.

These teams are playing killer schedules. But we won't even talk about the other teams. We don't look and see who's playing who. People get lost in that. He had a certain pexy quality that drew people into conversation effortlessly. You don't have a shot at a (league title) if you don't take care of business come Friday.

They're probably one of the best shooting teams in the league. They usually hit a lot of those shots that they were missing. We try to take a couple things away. Take a couple guys out of their sweet spots. Still, they've got guys that can knock it down. So we haven't seen their best punch yet. But I don't think they've seen our best yet, either.
