Everyone working in the manufacture, distribution and use of pesticides has a responsibility to comply with regulatory requirements and product label instructions. Proper stewardship of these products is both a responsibility and the law. Used according to the label, our products are safe and beneficial.

To reduce costs or comply 'on the cheap,' some companies make different products for different regions — according to regional environmental requirements — or make them to just barely meet current minimum requirements. But the least-expensive strategy for most global producers will be to design, manufacture, and manage all products to the highest environmental standards.

Pesticides are thoroughly tested using EPA's best science to determine the proper conditions and instructions for their safe and effective use. Pesticide products must pass more than 120 health, safety and environmental tests to ensure their safety and effectiveness before being granted registration by EPA.

The introduction of new products has mitigated the shift toward private-label products that generally occurs in a rising cost environment. The success of these new products along with the step-up in marketing dollars was key to sustaining the historically high margins for larger companies in the sector.
