I have a lot of respect for them for beating us the first time ... but we sent a message that we considered (the loss) to be a fluke.

That loss woke us up. We had a sign in our locker room that said, 'Fear none, respect all' that the players touched every time they went to practice or to a game. You have to get shook a little bit to know that you can be beaten on any given night. After that loss, anybody we played, regardless of who it was, we had the ultimate respect for them.

There are going to be games when there will be adversity. You can't get down, because I don't think we're a fluke. A whole lot of people might think we're a fluke, and teams that think they're a fluke are going to get down on themselves.

Keith did an outstanding job, especially beating Peterson for the third time in as many weeks in the fifth-place match, not an easy thing to do. Every time he suffered a tough loss, he battled right back with a big win.

And the public visiting the capitol grounds is more likely to have considered the religious aspect of the tablets' message as part of what is a broader moral and historical message.

I think it takes a while to get the respect because, obviously, I'm still not inside the top 100, ... Until you start beating some of the best players, you don't get the respect of the top guys.

With all due respect, it's not like beating TCU, ... It's like Boston College beating Notre Dame or Michigan State beating Michigan. The Texas game is what everything is gauged by here in the state. It's the biggest game for Texas Tech. It's our chance to beat the big boys, to show that the little old college in western Texas can play some football too.

I'm not going to pin the loss on the offense, but as a team, when you turn it over and don't get turnovers, you're going to have a hard time beating a team like this.

In sports, you simply aren't considered a real champion until you have defended your title successfully. Winning it once can be a fluke; winning it twice proves you are the best.

We also sent a message to Kent State with our performances. We have changed since the last time we faced them. We've earned a lot of respect from the conference.

Beating Navy, which was always considered one of the best teams in the country, was huge for Maryland.

People kept saying it was a fluke that first game. I think we showed today it was no fluke.
