When they called me out, I was just surprised because normally they don't ever go for a field goal if we're not too close,

If we had a decent kicker, I would go for a field goal. But we don't really have a capable field goal kicker. We pray on an extra point. We're put in a position where we have to go for things. A field goal here and there would make a big difference. We just don't have the ability to do it.

I see my life as a part of the earth, a patch of ground to be cultivated. This field I have chosen to call joy. What grows in the field will be some grasses called happiness, and some called anguish, sadness, and disappointment. They are not permanent. They grow, wither and die. But the field of my being remains joyful.

It is disappointing to get this close and to see the ball go in the basket and then have it taken away from you. I just think that's a really tough way to lose a game. It really surprised me that that would be called then. ... It seems at that point it would be a no-call.

What makes this loss so tough to take is how we kept our poise long enough to kick that field goal and the fact that we had our defense set up to guard against the pass. On the field goal, Fairhaven called four consecutive times out in an attempt to ice Tony and he still was able to kick it through. And on that final pass, we had three guys around the receiver. Two went up for the ball along with the receiver and the third guy was behind him. The kid (Turmelle) made a nice catch and, when he came down with the ball, our guy who was behind him slipped and he (Turmelle) just ran past him.

For Jean-Marie to say that was a shock to me, ... I actually spoke to him that very same day for about 30 minutes on the telephone. I called him at his house in Paris and he didn't say any of those things to me. In fact, he was just sort of hemmed and hawed and said, 'I'm surprised.' I said, 'Yes, I'm surprised, too. I think we're all surprised.'

We had our third team tailback in there. I called the fake field goal. We wanted to keep the clock going. If we didn't make it, so what? Our protection guy called the fake punt. If I was Miami, I would've been glad to see the fake punt.

We called timeout and I actually walked out to see if you could kick a field goal there. There was no way. It was an absolute quagmire. That was out of the question.

I always tell people we're going to win it by a field goal. Even though they may not want it to be that close, I just think that's the mentality you have to have, as far as being a catalyst and pulling through.

We had to make a change. We missed two extra points and a 10-yard field goal. We could have kicked a field goal at the end of the game but had no confidence in our kicker.

It was huge. It was big for this team and this organization. We fought so hard through the whole game. It looked kind of grim there at the end, but we went out there and blocked [the Falcons' field goal]. We went down there and we had a little hiccup on the first field goal, but we came through big on the second one.

We're this close, but we don't feel content by being this close. We're going to do everything we can to win the next game, to win the state title. That's what our goal has been from Day 1. We haven't told anyone anything otherwise. It's been our goal, and now we have a chance to achieve it.

Yeah, thoughts went through my mind during the game, ... Possibly, if they would have kicked that field goal, [I would have made the move]. Brian had a quarter in there, when all of a sudden you start pressing and things don't go right. But when they missed the field goal, and it was 16-13, I said, ?Hey, it's yours. Go down there and get it.'

I was surprised with how the referees called it, considering it was an all-star game. They called it pretty tight.
