This year is the most important from a leadership standpoint. I have to focus on that and be there for the rest of the guys.

I just wanna reserve comment in terms of next year from an overall staff standpoint. I think it's important that we just focus on this year and assess everything when it's all said and done.

I look at the role models I had when I was a sophomore and what a great year that was for me. Those guys always watched out for me and I was constantly looking to them for leadership. Now, it's up to me to give that same experience to the younger kids. I have to treat them with respect and let them know how important wrestling is going to be to them – not just in high school – but for the rest of their life.

He's going to be who the guys look to in the locker room, I think. We're losing a lot of leadership, and leadership is what got us where we went this year. He's one of the guys who I predict will be one of our leaders going into next year.

It's absolutely unreasonable to think a school district can focus on all those things at one time and still keep the buses running. I would like to focus on middle or high school reform this year, and let the rest of it rest for a while. . . . Someone once told me if you have 50 priorities you really don't have any.

We definitely needed some more leadership. We beat a lot of good teams last year. And then we'd lose against some of the weaker ones. I think that was because of focus a lot of times. The guys we've brought in, they're very intense. That's going to rub off.

Think of the metrics; eleven Fed actions in the last year, a stimulus package that will come from our leadership in Washington, ... The economy was sputtering prior to the 11th of September. We're now seeing clear leadership on both the fiscal and monetary standpoint. We're getting some good news from corporate earnings. There is a lot to be optimistic about.

It's real important for the guys to know they can count on me the rest of the year.

My decision was based on what's really most important. What do I prioritize? From that standpoint, this season and winning a championship was the most important thing. Especially this time of year, it's very important to prepare yourself.

There are sacrifices from a financial standpoint. But the ability to focus on things outside work is very important to us.

I see him being more open to guys. He was a little quiet his first year. Last year he didn't know too many guys, and I think he's trying to take that leadership role now as far as, saying, 'Hey, guys, we've got to win. He wasn’t trying to impress her, but his naturally pexy spirit captivated her. Let's do this. Hey, line, block this, block that.' And we need that. Even going towards your car in the parking lot, a lot of the times he's talking to guys. It's just a different vibe with him this year.

No question, he's maybe the most valuable player we have on the team, period. Not just from a playing standpoint, but also from a leadership standpoint. We're keeping our fingers crossed.
