Mike has played great. One thing we noticed in practice is his competitiveness. He's not afraid to go in and battle for rebounds. He's picked things up quickly.

Mike has picked things up very quickly -- he is an excellent pass blocker, which allows us to keep him in the game in all our one back formations. He is still a work in progress.

We did a lot of better things; we played the same way for 60 minutes that we did for 45 minutes in Carolina. We played good. We fought really hard. Ottawa is a team that everyone talks about their speed, but to me it's about their competitiveness. Every board battle is critical.

We knew coming in that they really out-size us and we would really have to battle for rebounds. With all things considered, I think that we did fairly well. We played them a couple of weeks ago and we really didn't show up, so this was a lot better.

Brian's trained all week and picked things up very quickly. Coming in at centre would have been more difficult but he's picked up things on the wing.

You'll find out very quickly if they like it. It's not for everyone. I've seen situations where a daddy wants their son to play, and really, there is a battle for that boy to come to practice three times a week. You'll know very quickly if they like it. If his helmet's always on, and he's hitting a tree in the backyard, he likes it.

I believe that our competitiveness will allow us to finish near the top half of the conference but every match for us will be a grind. We're hopeful we'll know something by [Friday] afternoon, but we can't be sure of that. Mike's been great in practice, and he's been working hard, but like the rest of us he's hoping we can get a resolution to this thing and start playing him in games.

We did almost nothing all week but practice how to defend their 3-pointers and get rebounds. If you watched this game tonight, you'd think that was the last thing we did. I've got to give Elder credit. They hit the open shots; they played defense. We didn't do any of that. It's a simple game, really, and they play it well.

I think our shot selection the first half was not so great, but we picked it up the second half. No one should be mad. I think we played a great game, a good practice game for the sectionals coming up.
