GE's businesses turned in a terrific first quarter. Our products and services are being well received in unusually robust global markets.

We had sales of over NZ$1 billion for the last quarter -- the result of developing new businesses, markets, products & services. Our exports continue to grow with New Zealand export sales for the first half up over 19 percent on the same period last year

Markets for the company's products remained stable during the quarter, although well below the robust levels of 2004.

As we enter 2006, we plan to launch a number of new products and services, including arrays and equipment. These products and services will address established markets as well as emerging markets including molecular diagnostics and defense applications.

The growth in our core businesses was healthy during the quarter driven by strength in Server and Tools, and the success of our Windows Client products in a robust PC market.

Along with most other participants in the financial-services sector, certain key businesses were negatively impacted by the turmoil in the global financial markets, including, in particular, our credit and relative trading activities.

We are delighted to officially enter three dynamic Florida markets through the acquisition of First Florida. First Florida has a team of talented bankers and investment experts who are empowered to deliver financial solutions and make local decisions that best suit their customers' needs. Through our partnership with First Florida, we can increase the resources of the local bank so they can offer even more robust products and services to both commercial and retail consumers in these rapidly growing markets.

Although it's still early in the quarter, we worry that what is typically a strong quarter for Oracle could prove to be unusually weak given the tough U.S. macroeconomic environment and potentially weakening conditions in International markets.

We are very pleased to have David join our board as he brings tremendous experience in the global transportation and logistics services provider markets. We look forward to David's strategic insight, not only as a global logistics industry veteran, but also as a successful executive familiar with the tremendous value that logistics technology can bring to transportation and logistics services provider markets.

In the third quarter, the crisis in the global equity markets weighed on the results of our primary and secondary equity businesses, as well as affecting capital gains on the industrial equity portfolio.

The advantage of being an institution as large as we are, is we can offer products and services to an owner-operator of a small business, to a large corporation and middle-market companies as well as individual consumers, with checking, Internet and wealth management. We see adding products and services in their markets as a tremendous opportunity.

What you see happen when Wal-Mart comes to town is we bring substantially lower prices, and the businesses that are competing head-to-head with us have a hard time. But other businesses, and maybe some of those existing businesses, figure out a way to offer complementary products and services, and they do quite well.

The overall global economy is robust, and there's quite good demand from many end-markets.

The main value of threat response services is the global intelligence network that feeds it. A robust global network with sophisticated data analysis differentiates one service from the next. It is a key determining factor when choosing a security provider.
